Is the Garage Sale App free?
It depends on which version you use. The web app is completely free with no limits, no subscription, and no account required.

The iPhone and iPad app is free to download and includes a free tier to get started. GS App Pro is an optional in-app purchase that removes the free tier limits — more than 2 sellers, more than 15 inventory items, and receipt sharing.

Either way, if you find it useful, a Buy Me a Coffee is always appreciated.
Does it work offline? Do I need Wi-Fi at my garage sale?
Yes. GS App is a Progressive Web App (PWA) that caches itself after the first load. Once installed, it runs entirely offline — no internet connection is needed on sale day. All your data (inventory, parties, transactions) is stored locally on your device unless you enable Google Drive backups (recommended).
Does it work on iPhone, iPad, and Android? How can I install it?
Yes, on all of them. On iPhone and iPad, GS App is available on the App Store — download it below. On Android, open salesapp.wozserv.com in Chrome and tap "Install App" when prompted. You can also use GS App directly in any mobile or desktop browser without installing.
What's the difference between the iPhone and iPad app and the web app?
The iPhone and iPad app is a native iOS app available on the App Store — it installs like any other iOS app and is the recommended way to use GS App on Apple devices. It has a free tier with limits (2 sellers, 15 inventory items, no receipt sharing); GS App Pro is an optional in-app purchase that removes those limits. The web app runs in any browser, can be installed on Android, and is fully free with no tier limits. Both versions work completely offline and store all data locally on your device.
How many sellers (parties) can I set up?
On the web app, there is no limit. On the iOS app, the free tier supports up to 2 sellers; upgrading to GS App Pro removes that limit. In practice, garage sales with 4–8 sellers work great. Each seller gets a name and a color, and their sales are tracked independently throughout the day.
How does barcode scanning work?
GS App uses your device's camera to scan UPC bar codes. When you register an inventory item, you can scan its barcode to attach a UPC to it. During a sale, tapping the barcode button and scanning an item's UPC instantly finds it in inventory and adds it to the cart. It works on any device with a camera — phone, tablet, or laptop.
Is my data saved if I close the browser or restart my phone? Web / Android
Yes. All data — inventory, parties, settings, and transaction history — is saved to your device's local storage. It persists across browser restarts and phone reboots as long as you don't clear your browser's site data. However, it is highly recommended that you enable Google Drive backups to ensure your data is safe. Alternatively, you can also export your data as a JSON backup from the Settings screen.
I'm nervous about losing my data but I don't want to use Google Drive to save my data, what can I do? Web / Android
On the setting screen, there is a Data section where you can export and import the full state of the Garage Sale App. When you export, the data file is saved to your device's file system, usually under Downloads. If you are on an iPhone or iPad with iCloud Drive, it will be in the Files app → Locations → iCloud Drive → Downloads. The file will be named in the form of "gsapp-backup-yyyy-mm-dd.json".
Can I use Google Drive to save my data? Web / Android
Yes - there are two ways:
  1. You can click the "Sign in with Google" button on the splash screen that first appears when you load the app (you may not see it if you check the "Don't show this again" checkbox).
  2. On the Sale screen, click the settings button (gear icon in the upper-right), scroll down to the Google Drive backup section and click the "Sign in with Google" button.
Where can I find the saved data on my Google Drive? And can I remove it? Web / Android
Unfortunately, you cannot "see" the data on your drive however you can see a managed app in your Google Drive settings. To remove this data:
  1. Open drive.google.com/drive/settings
  2. Click Manage Apps
  3. In the list, find "Garage Sale App"
  4. Click Options
  5. Click Delete hidden app data
You can also sign out in Settings → Google Drive Backup → Sign out, which stops any future syncing.
Does the Garage Sale App process payments or connect to payment gateways?
No. GS App is a payment tracking tool, not a payment processor. It does not connect to Stripe, Square, PayPal, Venmo, or any other payment service. You collect money however the buyer wants to pay — cash, Venmo, check, whatever — then record the method and amount in the app. GS App aggregates those totals so you know exactly how much came in and via which method at the end of the day.
Can I track Venmo, PayPal, or other non-cash payments?
Yes — as custom payment method labels. Go to Settings → Payment Methods and add any labels you want (e.g. Venmo, PayPal, Square, check). At checkout, you record which method the buyer used and how much. GS App does not open or connect to those apps; you handle that transaction yourself and simply log it here. Totals per payment method appear in the Reports screen.
Does it calculate sales tax?
Yes. Enable tax in Settings and enter your local rate. Tax is calculated at checkout on all taxable items. Individual inventory items can be marked non-taxable (e.g. clothing in states with a clothing exemption). The Reports screen correctly apportions tax to each seller based on their taxable sales only.
Can I use this for a flea market or community sale, not just a garage sale?
Absolutely. GS App works for any multi-seller cash-register scenario: neighborhood sales, school fundraisers, church rummage sales, flea market booths, craft fairs, and more. The "parties" are just sellers — you can name them anything.
Where do I get help or report a bug?
